Today in London’s Harley Street the atmosphere was Frosty for more than just the temperature as up to 100 women descended on the street to protest first at Harley Medicals offices, then onto Transforms who have both said they will not replace womens implants for free. The group protest by women affected by faulty PIP implants and disgusted with the handling of their concerns by the private clinics involved was organized on Facebook.
The protest is thought to be the first public display of protest against the current stance and policy of several high profile cosmetic surgery companies regarding the PIP implants with several more larger scale gatherings being planned.
BAAPS President Fazel Fatah again today commented:
“We remain steadfast in our recommendation to the public of precautionary removal of these defective devices. Although there is no immediate health risk, the gel within these implants is simply not meant to be inside the human body.”
